The Office of the Rail Regulator today announced the appointment of Michael Woods as its Director, Technical Services. Mr Woods will be responsible for leading a team providing railway operational, engineering and safety advice to support delivery of regulatory objectives.
Mr Woods is currently a transport consultant and academic. he was, until October 1996, Director, Planning and Development for Eurostar (U.K.) Ltd, having previously held a number of senior front line operational management posts with British Rail.
Mr Woods is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport, a member of its Board and Chairman of its Strategic Planning Committee.
Mr Woods will take up his appointment with the Office of the Rail Regulator on 20 April 1998. He succeeds Carolyn Griffiths who was ORR's Director, Technical Services from July 1994 and who has now taken up a senior appointment with the rolling stock manufacturer Adtranz.
