The Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) welcomes the appointment of Sir Alastair Morton as Chairman of the new Strategic Rail Authority.
James Gordon, Director General of ATOC, said he looked forward to Sir Alastair Morton adopting the role of 'champion of the railways within government' and developing the SRA as 'an engine for growth'.
"The SRA will have a prime influence on investment planning and provide the rail industry, which is at the heart of the Government's integrated transport policy, with a strategic focus, which has been lacking in the past."
