Transport Minister Keith Hill today welcomed the first guide to all licensed taxi ranks in Great Britain as a "significant contribution towards a fully integrated transport system."

Called 'TrainTaxi' the guide will allow business and leisure travelers to plan their journeys by train and book a licenced taxi to bridge those final few miles to their destination.

Welcoming the launch of the guide at St Pancras Station, London this morning, Keith Hill said:

"I welcome this guide and hope to see it widely available. It fits in nicely with the Government's overall objective of a fully integrated transport system for the country. TrainTaxi is all about giving people choice, through providing accurate, reliable and comprehensive information - of the aims of Transport 2010 - our 10 year blue print for travel which we announced last month.

"The more that public transport journeys can be made seamless, the more people will leave their cars behind and use good alternatives. I congratulate TrainTaxi on this bold initiative and commend Midland Mainline for being the first train operator to use the guide."
