type Press release
George Muir, Director General of ATOC, the Association of Train Operating Companies, commenting on the offer of Railtrack's Chief Executive, Gerald Corbett to resign following the Hatfield rail accident, said:
"Gerald Corbett has brought fresh air and energy to the industry. He has fought for the important things. It is a measure of the man that he has offered his resignation. It would be a loss to the industry.
The whole rail industry stands together: we're all responsible for safety.
"We are determined that the programmes leading to a safe railway will be pushed fast and vigorously and with the capital needed".
