Hull Trains, the company providing direct train services between Hull, Selby and London Kings Cross has announced plans to double the frequency of Sunday services, commencing from the start of the new summer timetable in May 2001.

From Sunday 20 May 2001, Hull Trains will be running two services in each direction between Hull and London on Sundays, as opposed to the single train in each direction in the current winter timetable.

The additional Sunday trains will depart both Hull and London at 18.03, which is an ideal time for weekend travellers, students, etc to return to and / or depart from Hull and London on a Sunday evening.

The announcement further strengthens Hull Trains’ commitment to deliver a high-quality, direct train service to meet the needs of rail travellers in Hull and surrounding areas, as well as assisting in developing markets in the London area for travel to Hull, thereby playing a real part in the ongoing economic regeneration of the Hull and East Yorkshire areas.

From the summer 2001 timetable, Hull Trains services will depart at the following times:

Monday - Friday
06.20, 12.09 and 16.30 from Hull
08.33, 10.36 and 16.03 from London Kings Cross

Saturday
08.30, 15.05 and 17.22 from Hull
09.34, 13.34 and 19.04 from London Kings Cross

Sunday
14.02 and 18.03 from Hull
14.03 and 18.03 from London Kings Cross

Commenting on the announcement of additional Hull Trains Sunday services, managing director Jim Morgan said:

“This is excellent news for both existing and potential rail travellers in Hull and East Yorkshire. Hull Trains’ services have been very warmly welcomed by the local community and I am delighted to underline our commitment to the region in announcing these additional Sunday services.

“This is the first stage in the expansion of services promised by Hull Trains, and we will continue to explore further development of our services to ensure the people of Hull and the surrounding areas receive the level of direct London train services the region both demands and deserves.”

Editors note

Hull Trains services are now almost back to the normal scheduled timetable following the speed restrictions imposed by Railtrack after the Hatfield accident.
