Mass strike action averted by operators

At least 99% of train services will be operating to their normal timetables on Monday 25 June following successful discussions between 17 train operators and the RMT over the past two days.

c2c, which operates services from London to Southend, is still in discussions with the RMT and the outcome of the meeting will be announced by the operator.

The following operators have settled the dispute and will run a normal service.

Arriva Trains Northern
Central Trains
Chiltern Railways
Connex South Central
Connex South Eastern
First Great Western
First North Western
GNER
Hull Trains
ScotRail
South West Trains
Thames Trains
Valley Lines
Virgin Trains
Wales & West Passenger Trains

Silverlink's discussions are on going and a decision is expected imminently. Midland Mainline was granted an injunction from the Leeds Crown court after ballot irregularities were discovered.

Train companies which were not effected by the dispute are:

First Great Eastern
Heathrow Express
Island Line
Thameslink
WAGN

ATOC Director General, George Muir, said: "Obviously we are pleased that train services will be running normally on Monday. The last thing the industry wanted was another day of disruption as we work to rebuild passenger confidence and restore performance levels. But union muscle forced a settlement which was more about job demarcation than safety."
