The Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) today welcomed the results of an independent study into Driver Only Operations (DOO) which confirms this method of working as safe.

Commenting on the report, ATOC Director, Production Support, Steve Bence said: "The train operators are pleased that this report, commissioned by Railway Safety, concludes that Driver Only Operations are safe and that there is no case for such operations to revert back to operating with guards."

In concluding, Mr Bence said: "Railway Safety has produced a good report and the train operators are supportive of its findings."
