The Association of Train Operating Companies today welcomed the decision by the Railtrack administrator to make changes to the Railtrack board.

ATOC Director General, George Muir, said: "The appointment of a new chief executive and non-executive director will refocus the company by putting passengers back at the top of the agenda. With his engineering background, John Armitt certainly has the right credentials to lead Railtrack. Combined with the rail knowledge that Jim Cornell will bring with him, I am confident that the new team will bring a high level of commitment and enthusiasm to Railtrack. The train operators look forward to working with both of them."
