Midland Mainline now operates services between Manchester Piccadilly and London St. Pancras. This service was introduced on 18 May 2003 as an alternative route for passengers travelling between Manchester, Stockport and London during the West Coast Main Line Route Modernisation programme.
Journey times between Manchester and London St. Pancras take an average of just over 3 hours. Trains take an alternative route to Manchester, with stops at Luton, Wellingborough, Kettering, Market Harborough, Leicester, and Stockport.
