With new trains already coming into service, there’s more good news from Hull Trains, which is delighted to announce additional train services on its Hull – London King’s Cross service from Retford for the summer timetable, 12 June to mid December 2005. It is very much hoped that the increased service levels will become a permanent fixture in the timetable.

The new timetable dramatically increases the number of Hull Train services available at Retford; whereas now there is only one Hull Trains weekday service available southbound, from the new timetable there will be four return services. Hull Trains will also offer at least three return services from Retford on Saturdays and Sundays; at present there are none. The additional weekday services gives business and leisure passengers far more choice and flexibility in planning journeys.

Managing Director, Mark Leving said, “I’m very pleased that we will be stopping far more frequently at Retford. We made powerful case for the extra services on our route. We are delighted that the Office of the Rail Regulator has awarded us the extra slots in the timetable and we are confident that capacity issues on the network will be resolved which will ensure that these extra services stay in the timetable beyond December. I am also very pleased that the timetable reflects improved journey times of up to twenty minutes; in the new Class 222 Pioneers we have the fastest accelerating trains on the network and we want utilise the train’s capabilities to the full.”
