URGENT UPDATE - Rail services in rush hour _______________________________________________________________
 type Press release
Torrential rain and lightning damage have caused disruption to the railway across the south east of England today – Thursday 23 June – with delays and cancellations on many routes into London.
This is likely to continue for the rest of the day, with more bad weather forecast. The Rail Delivery Group, which represents train operating companies and Network Rail, is advising passengers travelling with a number of operators that services will be severely disrupted this evening. Passengers should check before they travel and consider travelling earlier if they can in order to get home.
A number of train operators are affected including: Abellio Greater Anglia, Gatwick Express, Southern, South West Trains and Thameslink.
Southeastern services are also severely disrupted and the train operator is urging its passengers to allow extra time for their journeys and to check before they travel via its website, its On Track app, nationalrail.co.uk or on Twitter @se_railway.
Southeastern is also unable to run any trains into or out of London Cannon Street as it is currently closed due to signalling failures. Services are being diverted into and out of Charing Cross, Blackfriars and Victoria. Passengers can also use Southeastern’s high speed services at no extra charge.
