::: Transport for London crisis grows as funding deadline looms

First Great Eastern
Great Eastern

One of three original franchises serving parts of East Anglia (the others were Anglia Railways and WAGN). Commitments included additional services and £4m invested in station improvements.

An additional commitment to phase out the last slam-door trains on FGE routes was agreed by OPRAF and FirstGroup in March 1998.

Franchise remapping meant this franchise was not renewed. Instead, FGE services were combined with those of Anglia Railways and part of WAGN to form Greater Anglia in April 2004.
