Commenting on the retirement of Major General Lennox Napier from the post of Chairman of the Central Rail Users Consultative Committee Sir George Young, the Secretary of State for Transport, said today: "While grateful for the sterling work that Major General Lennox Napier has done, I profoundly disagree with his comments. Far from undermining the railways, rail privatisation offers the opportunity for stronger investment and a better service for passengers which the Major General himself has been campaigning for over the last ten years."
