The site, which can be reached at ../../, offers internet surfers rapid access to details of all passenger services operating in Great Britain. The timetable service is unique in being updated twice a week so that details of short-term changes to services can be included. In addition the site contains a wealth of other information about the company at the heart of Britain's railways. BRBS, a key supplier of information technology to the rail industry, worked with Railtrack to supply the electronic timetable which is expected to attract many thousands of visitors to the site each year. Recent research (NOP Research, June 1996) indicates that 10 per cent of the adult UK population use the Internet and British usage is growing at a rate of 10 - 15 per cent per month. The Railtrack pages, designed by Clarity Communications, also contain shareholder information giving financial details about the company, corporate information on all aspects of Railtrack's business including safety and environmental concerns, Railtrack's industry partners and a special section on renting commercial property. Railtrack's Commercial Director Michael Howell said: "We have tried to make the Railtrack site as informative and user-friendly as possible. There is obviously an interest in the service we provide and we look forward to welcoming more visitors from all over the world."
