Tim Desmond, the much loved long serving member of staff at Dollis Hill Station will be remembered by family, friends, colleagues and customers, when a bronze bust depicting him will be unveiled at 1100 on Monday, 18 August 1997.

Tim worked at the station for 26 of his 30 year career with London Underground.

Fondly nick-named Mr Dollis Hill, Tim collapsed at the station in September 1995 and died shortly afterwards in hospital after suffering a burst artery. He was 60 years old.

Popular with staff and customers alike, money was raised by a collection from customers and staff, as well as a donation by London Underground.

Following consultations with Tim's family, a bronze bust, sculptured by local artist Brenda LeBoer, was commissioned and will be placed at the main exit of the platforms following the unveiling.

Dave Hembury, Group Station Manager for the stations in the area said: "We all miss Tim. He had worked at Dollis Hill a long time, and never took a day off sick in all his time with the station. He was well liked and respected and the bust is our way of remembering him. The station isn't the same without him, but now the bust will be in such a prominent place, everyone can still see him."

Members of Tim's family will attend the ceremony, along with colleagues. Unveiling the plaque will be carried out by Tim's widow, Joyce. John Self, the General Manager for the Jubilee and East London Lines, plus Ron Delaney, the Line Business Manager will also be present.
