George Muir, Director General of ATOC, the Association of Train Operating Companies, commenting on the resignation today of Gerald Corbett, Chief Executive of Railtrack, said:
"Gerald Corbett brought energy and dynamism to the rail industry. He achieved a great deal during his time as Chief Executive.
"The whole rail industry will continue to work together to deliver the current track safety programme which began four weeks ago. We are determined to return to a reliable railway passengers can depend on as speedily as possible.
We look forward to working with Gerald's successor as Chief Executive, Steven Marshall, and Johnson Cox, Chief Operating Officer."
