 type Press release
The re-introduction of 4 Anglia Railways’ services between Stratford and Basingstoke to restore the amended London Crosslink timetable will take place from Monday 5 March.
Between 28 February and 4 March the temporary cancellation of 4 London Crosslink services was undertaken in order to provide additional trains to Anglia Railways’ sister company, Hull Trains following the tragic rail accident at Great Heck, near Doncaster. This approach enabled Hull Trains to double the seating capacity on all their services between Hull, Doncaster and London, thereby providing valuable additional seats for travellers on the East Coast Main Line during a difficult period. The move was part of an industry-wide response agreed with the Strategic Rail Authority.
From Monday 5 March the 06.20 Hull – London and 16.03 London – Hull (the busiest trains) will continue to run with double the seating capacity for the rest of the week or until the East Coast Main Line reopens.
However, the return of one train to Anglia Railways will enable the following London Crosslink services to be restored and operate from Monday 5 March onwards :
08.04 and 14.04 services from Stratford to Basingstoke
10.32 and 16.32 services from Basingstoke to Stratford
