Our new direct service between Norwich and Cambridge is now in operation

Check out our Norwich - Cambridge mini site.

After identifying the need for a direct rail route between Norwich and Cambridge, Anglia Railways actively sought funding from the Strategic Rail Authority to bring customers this new service.

The full service commenced at the start of the winter timetable, Sunday 29th September, with 15 return trips each day Monday to Saturday and 10 on Sundays. All services stop at Wymondham, Attleborough, Thetford and Ely. Journey time between Norwich and Cambridge is from just 70 minutes.

Catering is provided with an at seat trolley service, offering drinks and light refreshments on all trains with the exception of the last two trains in each direction Monday to Saturday and all day Sunday (although this will be reviewed for the summer timetable).

The Trains

The service is operated by brand new, state-of-the-art trains which have First Class accommodation within a saloon containing 9 seats, with the remaining 118 seats being Standard accommodation. The trains comply with the latest disability regulations and each unit has two toilets, one of which is wheelchair accessible. The trains have on train visual display units to show train destination and calling points and carry up to 4 cycles or 2 wheelchairs.

The current One Day Anglia Plus ticket has been extended from Thetford to Ely and Cambridge. This ticket allows the holder to travel to and from any station on the Anglia Railways network. Priced at just ?9 per adult and ?2 each for up to four accompanied children the Anglia Plus ticket offers great value for money and is available on all Anglia Railways services after 08:45 and at anytime at weekends and Bank Holidays.

There are also 3-day and 7-day Anglia Plus tickets available. The 3-day pass is priced at just £20 per adult.

The interavailable fares for the route are set by Central Trains Limited. The fares structure is currently being reviewed and information on fares will appear here as soon as it is available.
