Passenger Focus, the independent national rail consumer watchdog, today welcomes the announcement by the Department for Transport that funding is available for work to take place to fit the Thameslink ‘box’.

Colin Foxall, Passenger Focus chairman, said: “At last – common sense has prevailed. Building the new Thameslink station now will help hundreds of thousands of passengers from all over Great Britain to avoid messy, confusing and tiring changes between the current station and new developments at Kings Cross and St Pancras.”

Colin Foxall urges government: “Crack on with the work now, and get the new station ready for the start of Eurostar services from St Pancras in 2007.”
