Work ends on £40,000 Moray stations investment

Moray stations have received a £40,000 boost as part of a national investment in station lighting of £110,000.

Keith, Elgin and Nairn have all received recent lighting upgrades to both the stations and car parks in a bid to boost security and quality. They have also, together with Forres, received new cycle storage facilities.

This is part of a £110,000 national spend over the past 18 months that’s seen a further 13 Scottish stations benefit from car park lighting upgrades.

Transport Minister Tavish Scott said:

"This substantial investment in local stations is delivering quality improvements across the rail network.

"The new lighting for Keith, Elgin and Nairn stations will provide passengers using the station and their car parks with a safer, more welcoming environment."

Alan Dougall, First Scotrail Manager at Inverness, said:

"The installation of new lighting at these stations has made a considerable improvement and I am confident that it will be well received by our customers.

"Ongoing investment will see a number of enhancements introduced for the benefit of customers and highlights our commitment to provide a top quality transport system."

A total investment of £10m was secured by Transport Scotland for Scottish stations as part of the First ScotRail franchise and this will see more station improvements being delivered in Moray in the future.
