The TSSA rail union, representing some almost 3,000 rail workers, has announced its withdrawal from industrial action planned for next week.
Mark Carne, Network Rail chief executive, said: “The TSSA has announced it is suspending its planned industrial action planned for next week. We welcome this news and the constructive discussions that we’ve been having since Monday with all our trade unions to avert a strike and reach an amicable solution.”
Notes to editors:
The main rail union, the RMT, are currently still in dispute and the withdrawal of the TSSA, while extremely welcome, will have little impact on improving the level of service train operators will be able to offer during the planned strike next week.
