Central Trains
A large section of the Regional Railways network from Aberystwyth in the west to Norwich in the east formed this franchise area. The original contract was awarded on 17 February 1997 for 7 years 1 month, but this was extended twice. The first change in 2003 added two years to the franchise term, taking it to April 2006. The second extension was to 'autumn 2007' as part of franchise 'remapping' by the Department for Transport in October 2005.
