| ![]() ![]() Greater AngliaEast AngliaSucceeded Abellio Greater Anglia and was briefly known during the mobilisation period as Abellio East Anglia. The termination date may be extended by up to 13 reporting periods (52 weeks) at the discretion of the Secretary of State. The shortlisted bidders (17 September 2015) were Abellio (in a 60:40 joint venture with Stagecoach Group), FirstGroup and National Express. Stagecoach announced that it was wthdrawing from the competition on 9 December 2015. The award was due to be made in June 2016, but the announcement that Abellio was preferred bidder was delayed until 10 August 2016 and confirmed (with additional detail) on 24 August 2016. The contract includes a fleet of Aventra trains to be built by Bombardier in Derby (660 vehicles) and others by Stadler (383 vehicles). The new trains are to be delivered between January 2019 and September 2020, replacing all current East Anglia rolling stock.
