Organisation set up October 2014 as a consortium of the city regions in the north of England, and part of wider plans by central government to encourage the growth of a ‘Northern Powerhouse’. The TfN Partnership Board is producing a Northern Transport Strategy in conjunction with Local Enterprise Partnerships, Highways England, Network Rail and HS2 Ltd.
