 type Press release
A ceremony to celebrate the restoration of Baron’s Court Station on London Underground’s District and Piccadilly Lines took place on Monday 19 May 1997.
Baron’s Court Station, a Grade II Listed Building first opened to the public in 1916, has undergone painstaking restoration and now closely matches its original appearance. Renovation work started in August 1996 and was largely completed by February 1997.
In recreating the 1916 appearance, the Station has been refinished in terracotta and a canopy installed over the entrance.
The platforms and canopy have been repainted with a specially mixed maroon paint based on original samples.
Other structural work included the replacement of the semi-circular glass toplights, renovation of the roof and the repair of wall tiling.
