Ex gratia payments offered to Rickerscote residents _______________________________________________________________
 type Press release
Railtrack, English Welsh & Scottish Railway, the train company, and CAIB, the wagon owners, have made ex gratia offers of compensation to 10 householders following the accident on March 8 1996 at Rickerscote, Staffordshire.
The offer, made without any admission of liability, has been sent to residents of The Russetts and comes after Railtrack's Chairman, Sir Robert Horton, gave an assurance at the company's annual general meeting (24 July) that he would liaise with the parties involved and seek a quick settlement to these claims.
