type Press release
Due to industrial action by the ASLEF and RMT trade unions, ScotRail will not be operating services on Friday 1 March. Further industrial action is planned on Wednesday 6, Monday 11 and Tuesday 19 March.
The overnight Caledonian Sleeper services from Aberdeen, Inverness, Glasgow and Edinburgh to / from London will run as normal but sleeper services between Fort William and London will be affected. Alternative arrangements are in place for those passengers booked to / from Fort William.
GNER and Virgin train services will operate as normal and ScotRail tickets are valid for these services. Bus operators in Scotland will be augmenting their services on routes that parallel rail routes.
For further information on alternative transport customers can check at local stations, visit www.scotrail.co.uk, contact National Rail Enquiries on 08457 484950 or contact Traveline on 0870 608 2608 for bus information.
Customers can also sign-up to receive the latest information on disruption to ScotRail services in a regular e-mail newsletter. To register on-line visit www.scotrail.co.uk.
Under the Passenger Charter arrangements the majority of customers holding ScotRail tickets for the above dates will be eligible for a refund. Weekly Season Ticket holders will also be entitled to a refund, while Monthly Season Tickets (or longer) will be extended for each day of industrial action on the next renewal date.
“I am sorry for the inconvenience this industrial action by ASLEF and RMT drivers will cause our customers,” says acting Managing Director Nick Brown. “Our door remains open to the trade unions and we hope to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.”
